Sharlen Nozawa

Silver Lustre Plate

Hand-thrown during a residency in Japan, the Silver Lustre Plate is finished with a delicate silver lustre overglaze that lends the surface a soft, reflective sheen. Informed by ceramic traditions spanning Korea, Japan and the wider East Asian region, the piece reflects Nozawa's considered approach to form, material and the rituals of the table.

Notes

Each piece is made by hand and no two are exactly alike. Small shifts in form, texture and glaze record the process of making, allowing each vessel to carry its own quiet character.

Care

To preserve the silver lustre finish, wash gently by hand after use and avoid the dishwasher. Allow the piece to dry completely before storing.

Maker

Sharlen Nozawa makes tableware in Paris, informed by the ceramics she grew up around in Hawaii. Her mother’s collection entered the household gradually: pieces brought from Japan after emigration, then others collected in Hawaii, each one extending the table’s vocabulary without turning heritage into display.
