Hannah Kuhlmann
Hannah Kuhlmann (b. 1989, Cologne) is a Cologne-based designer whose practice centres on furniture and lighting made from steel tubes and hand-cut metal sheets. Working in small, limited series, each piece is welded and polished by hand, with the subtle distortions of fabrication intentionally left visible. Embracing irregularities and material resistance, Kuhlmann allows form to emerge through a process of negotiation rather than control.
Eternal Elders is an ongoing series of sculptural vessels and objects that explores collecting, memory, and the stories embedded in everyday things. Designed to hold treasured finds, the vessels gradually become personal cabinets of curiosities. Throughout the series, magnetic jewels appear as movable elements that can be rearranged, expanded, and reconfigured over time, allowing compositions to evolve alongside the lives of their owners.
Oscillating between function and ornament, Kuhlmann's work invites a heightened awareness of the objects that quietly shape everyday life.
