Shane Gabier is a maker and educator whose career has evolved from fashion to include ceramics and object work. Having studied in Chicago and co-founded Creatures of the Wind, he has long been attuned to cultural narratives, mythic visual languages, and the poetics of surface. In his current practice, clay replaces textile as his primary medium of investigation.
Gabier’s sensibility extends beyond the studio; his ceramic tiles appear in the opening titles of Bonjour Tristesse (2024), their matte colour fields forming part of the film’s typographic landscape. His work also finds its way into lived spaces: bookends, sconces, and vessels that slip easily between domestic use and sculptural presence.
For aarticles, he presents series of vases, edges remain slightly uneven, evidence of a hand that values intuition as much as structure.
