Here, the moon becomes a symbol of the mother herself, present through the loneliest hours, offering warmth and comfort. The dark landscape evokes exhaustion and stillness, reflecting the solitude of being awake while the world sleeps.

Painted on discarded wood, the work embraces its rawness and imperfections.

Notes

As the work is painted on discarded wood, slight irregularities in the panel's surface and edges are inherent to the piece. The work is fitted with a hanging fixture on the back.

Maintain a stable room temperature and avoid humid spaces such as bathrooms or kitchens. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth — avoid water, or cleaning products on the painted surface.

Maker

Patricia Perales García, based in Copenhagen, makes ceramics, textiles, drawings and oil on wood works, informed by seven years in London's fashion industry and training in costume design in Florence. Her Motherhood series, painted on discarded wood, explores the emotional terrain of early parenthood, from night hours and exhaustion to solitude and the desire to disappear.
