Handwoven bamboo/rattan basket with a reinforced wooden base and rope side handles. The form includes a removable inner basket that nests as a lid; this insert has a small rectangular aperture. Used to hold and transport live catch along rivers and coasts, the piece shows the quiet logic of working craft: structure built from repetition and tension.

Notes

The smaller basket is designed to fit inside. Two back hoops allow for carrying on a rope. Found at a market in Taipei, Taiwan.
